HADASSAH MINISTRY
I may not be perfect, but Jesus thinks I’m to die for.
Dear Saints,
WHAT FOUNDATION WAS LAID IN YOUR LIFE?
I WISH EVERY MOTHER A VERY BLESSED MOTHER’S DAY FOR YESTERDAY.
The Lord has been talking to me about foundations, and I thought I would share this as it is quite significant to your Christian walk.
Here are a few scriptures that the bible says about foundations.
Matthew 7:24-27 ESV
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Luke 6:47-49 ESV
Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
As you can see the Word stresses the importance of having a good foundation. I wondered about why the Lord was highlighting these scriptures and talking to me about foundations. Then I realized that during the past 30 years I have dealt with many Christians that have had problems in there walk with the Lord. Also I have met many people whose lives have never worked out the way they should have.
I counsel some people with problems with family members and this made me study my own life and that of my brother and other family members. I realized that my life was permeated by a loving family and a father who always encouraged us to attend Sunday School, I developed a passion for going to church and felt guilty if a skipped a Sunday. After talking to people whose lives are in a mess I realized that my foundation was one where I was soaked in the Word and I had a good foundation that led me eventually to pursue salvation with a passion, I wanted to be saved at all cost, later it led me to ask God if I could serve Him radically. My brother on the other hand, missed the boat as he was very attached to my mother who died when we were young and this derailed him and led him to become an alcoholic and his life ended in a mess, I however I did lead him to the Lord before He died. But this was so strange that we both grew up in the same house yet with two different outcomes, our foundation was laid by our parents but the choices we make can derail the building process.
I have heard horror stories of how parents had treated their children, and then I understood why their lives turned out so devastating, they did not have a solid foundation to build on. Eventually the storms came and washed away their lives and they were lost and needed rescue.
There is another word that stood out to me Berean Standard Bible
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
I can just say thank you to my earthly father for putting down a solid foundation in my life and for my heavenly Father for guiding me through my life and building on me so that I could stand strong against the onslaught of the enemy.
The words that God has spoken over my life means so much to me, and I often wish I could take some people back to the past and rebuild their foundation, it is tricky trying to build on their foundation that is either missing or built on hatred and chaos. The building process is so much harder, because they keep falling down and you have to try and build them up again and again.
My mother was a nurse and was much loved by her patients and she was the matriarch of her family as her mother also died and she had to take care of her siblings. When I look at her life and how she worked with broken people I know that she passed on her compassion and love for people to me, I am forever grateful that she passed on those traits to me.
But no matter what your foundation was there is always hope, God promises that He will never forsake us or leave us, which should assure us that no matter what our foundation is if we allow Him to build us up we will have a strong finish. He will make a mansion out of us that will be the envy of others. He will fill our lives with His love and glory that will not make people envy us but will pull them towards us so they can have what we have, the anointing and joy of the Lord.
If your foundation was faulty and not solid, just ask the Lord to wipe it out and rebuild on the solid rock which is Jesus, you will see that God can restore all that was lost, rebuild your life so that you won’t even recognize the new you. And He will use you to build on others to help them to overcome and be victorious.
Shalom.
